A new scheme in Michigan, USA, is hoped to put a stop to drunk driving through placing talking urinal cakes in bar toilets which will warn men, whenever they answer the call of nature, against drinking and driving.
The urinal cakes are motion activated and when a man uses the urinal a recording of a woman’s voice will play, warning him against drink driving in a joking way, but with a serious message.
One message says: “Hey there big guy! Having a few drinks? Then listen up! Think you’ve had one too many? Then it’s time to call a cab or a sober friend for a ride home. It sure is safer and a hell of a lot cheaper than a DWI. Make the smart choice tonight, don’t drink and drive. Remember, your future is in your hand.”
Another message reminds men of the potential consequences of drink driving.
“Here’s a real friendly reminder. Don’t drive drunk. If you do and you get arrested, the next urinal you pee in will be in jail, with a hairy guy named Bubba standing behind asking you to pick up the soap and be his b****.”
The urinal cakes are also to be used in other counties across America in a drink-driving crackdown around the Fourth of July celebrations.
“Not only do we want to turn some heads and get people talking, we hope everyone takes the message to heart,” said Michael L. Prince, director of the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning.
