If you don’t have insurance, didn’t pay by credit card, & aren’t protected by ATOL…

You should submit a claim to the following address: Joint Administrators c/o Erskine House, 68-73 Queen Street, Edinburgh EH2 4NH.  As stated in Part 1, however, as an unsecured creditor, you’ll be lucky to recover even a fraction of the money you paid for your ticket(s).

Are you currently abroad on a Globespan holiday?

Customers currently abroad on Globespan package holidays should be able to continue to stay in their hotel or villa and complete their holiday.  In the majority of cases, their accommodation provider will be paid directly by the Civil Aviation Authority so they should not incur any additional expense.

In the event you do incur additional expenses, however, you should retain receipts as the Civil Aviation Authority will be able to consider claims for refunds in respect of these amounts.

As for getting home, the Civil Aviation Authority will arrange a flight for you.  You should check the ATOL website ( for more information.  The Civil Aviation Authority also have a helpline (+44 (0) 2891 856 547) for those customers in particular distress.

Did you book a Globespan holiday through a separate travel agent?

All passengers who booked through a separate travel agent should contact that agent in the first instance for help.

Are you a Flyglobespan passenger already abroad?

Flyglobespan passengers already abroad will need to make their own arrangements to return to the UK using alternative airlines.

Other airlines may make available special ‘repatriation’ fares to help Flyglobespan passengers – these are usually available, by telephone only, within a few hours of an airline going bust (but maybe not immediately) and last about two weeks.

Those customers wishing to make their own arrangements for return travel should note that the Civil Aviation Authority will not cover the costs of independent travel.  If you do wish to make independent arrangements, however, ensure you retain your receipts.
