A multi-million pound case involving claims of sexual discrimination, victimisation and constructive dismissal has finally settled after a three year legal battle.
The London Evening Standard reports Gill Switalski, 54, former head of legal affairs at F&C Asset Management has agreed to withdraw her claim in return for "an undisclosed multi-million-pound sum."
Ms. Switalski earned £140,000 a year while working at F&C, which controls assets of more than £100?billion, and also ran her own property development company and a legal training website.
She alleged she was harassed and victimised beginning in late 2004, and unable to work from August 2006, when she took sick leave following an operation.
A London employment tribunal ruled in her favour in March 2008. F&C appealed the decision, however, first in May 2008 and then in July 2009. On both occasions, the appeals tribunal upheld the original verdict.
Mother-of-two Ms. Switalski claimed she was left "almost penniless" because F&C deliberately delayed paying her compensation.
A hearing to determine compensation was scheduled for this week. At one stage, Ms. Switalski had claimed £19?million in damages, although this was later lowered to £12?million.
F&C refused to discuss the settlement except to say: "The parties have resolved all issues between them on the basis that all claims are withdrawn and will make no further statement."
